Adding Aweber Sign-up forms to Joomla Content pages

Using "Mod HTML' rather than the Aweber Joomla module

In addition to the Aweber Joomla Module there are a number of ways to an add Aweber newsletter sign-up forms to your website. Here we are going to look at one method that has a lot of flexibility as to where you can place these forms.

A lot of website owners place the email signup form in a Aweber Joomla module on the left or right side of the website. I have the same feature on this website running down the left column of the home page.

This works for casual visitors of the site to add themselves to the list.

However what if you require a lot more ad copy to lead the visitor to signing up?

For instance in this blog entry if I wanted to futher tempt and persuade the visitor to sign up for my newsletter by telling him all the advanced tips and tricks he will learn to make his marketing efforts 'POP' and increase his signup rates.. I'd need alot more ad copy.

Many internet marketers turning now to Joomla for their websites are used to the websites designed by XSite Pro software. This web design package is well know for creating those long page sales letter websites.

It is an easy matter to insert your Aweber code into the text of the sales page using XSite Pro. Now when they turn to Joomla they find it's a litte more complicated.

Well not anymore!

One of the modules that makes this easy is called 'Mod HTML'. it is a free module you can download from the Joomla Extension website.

If you are using joomla 1.5 version (which I hope you are..) you'll need to switch 'Legacy mode' on.

Now here's how to add your Aweber code into your content pages on Joomla Version 1.5 .

1) Install the 'mod html' module to your site. I'm assuming everyone reading this knows at least how to do that.  I like to rename the module name to 'aweber' for this module. I'll show you why in a second.

2) Create your form in Aweber and get the java code it generates for you and enter it in the module.See pic above.

3) Now go to the content page that you wish to place the Aweber sign-up form in and place the following code in the page:

Joomla Code to place module in content

If you notice the parameter we use following 'loadposition' is 'Aweber' . This is the name we gave to the 'mod html' module. This will load the contents of the module into our page. In this case it loads the Aweber java script code.

Here is what it looks like inserted into this page:

As you can see it's quite easy now to add the forms to your adcopy. This gives savy internet marketers the ability to get that  XSite Pro 'sales letter' look on their Joomla website. Of course you can format the form to your liking through your Aweber account.
